This issue is 77 pages long, and includes the following:

  • One 25-page adventure: The Dragon's Magnum Opus
    • Over the years, various artists and composers have crafted pieces inspired by "The Gleaming Plateau". Recently, however, the name of Glimmerdale and its beautiful views have gone by the wayside. Hoping to breathe new life into the town the Mayor has proposed a grand festival of the arts, which has brought the eye of many throughout the area, including the eye of a "reformed" green dragon named Emerald. Players will need to gather materials for Emerald all while trying to decide if he is truly reformed or if he has more sinister plans for Glimmerdale.
  • 9 total maps (both grid and gridless versions) + a World Map
  • Various NPCs and Items!
    • NPC Campire Spotlight: Cybelle - A Necromancer, designed for Shadowdark (But still usable in D&D and PF with minor adjustments)
    • Shale Alathar: the BBEG of the Dragon's Magnum Opus
    • Niri's Magicka: An item shop with a unique NPC and 6 items
  • Our "Everyday Dragons": Two Spotlight Pieces Focused on Small Businesses or Creators:
    • The Grain and The Glass - A stain glass maker in the TTRPG & Gaming Community
    • Adder Stone Games - Legends of Avallen creator interview
  • Advice columns for homebrew, combat, thieve's guilds, gamemastering, and more
    • Featuring Grammpaw Dragonbone, and DungeonBrew
  • Character artwork and submissions
  • DIY Token Tutorial
  • Community Polls and Quizzes
  • Creative Writing for Game Inspiration like:
    • Jester's Tale: A behind the scens look at the evolution of one player's character (and artwork!)
    • The Trouble Shooters & the Well of Respect: Part 1 of a serial fictional piece
    • Yivi Calypso's Things to Experience Before You Inevitably Die: a creative piece detailing the Twisted Tankard, a new local to throw your players into!
  • And More!

About Cantrips Media

Cantrips Media is owned by me, Kylie. I'm a stationery nerd, but also just a gaming nerd. While acting as Dungeon Master for my campaign, I found the need for more organization. I loved bullet journaling and discbound journals a lot and decided to start creating my own. That's how Cantrips Media was born. I work out of my home near Pittsburgh, PA and am lucky enough to be able to do this full-time. You can learn more about us here.

It's crazy that I have to update this after this section staying the same for almost 3 years. I no longer do everything, though I am still the brains behind everything. Most page designs and decisions are made by me, and though we are now a company of TWO people, I still help with a lot of the day to day stuff too.

We no longer work out of my home (I KNOW CRAZY), but we're still in PA. I'm a dungeon master, a player, a cat-lover, and an all-around nerd. Now I'm also a Mom! When I have free time, I love playing video games with my husband or my niece and nephews, reading a good book, or designing new ways to  destroy challenge my players.

Your support of the shop supports me and my growing family, as well as helps me fulfill my dreams of both running a successful business and a creative one. Your support also helps me make sure that my sister recieves a fair wage for her talents (most of the artwork for stickers and tokens is all her), and hopefully I'll be able to increase her wage as well as bring on more help and support them as well.

Thank you for all the support no matter how big or small it's been these last 5 years. It truly means a lot to me.

Happy Adventuring,

Kylie

Autumn is a fantastic artist and amazing creative. While she's a big gaming and anime nerd, she's not as familiar with TTRPGs, (though her sister has definitely made her play D&D a few times). Her main jobs at Cantrips Media is to assemble journals (which is still a very handmade process) and pack orders. She also designs stickers and visual assets that help turn Kylie's crazy, wacky ideas into reality! She owns her own sticker shop W0nkk0 stickers on Etsy and also can be found on Instagram and YouTube as @artchiu.

Incredible Compilation of Inspirations, Source Material and Utterly Addictive

I received my copy of this fledgling magazine in the mail the other day, and it brought back memories of when there were multiple quality magazines providing supportive content for this great hobby. A lot of content is now digital (and if your preference is trhat, this magazine can also be digitally purchased) but there's something to be said about holding a physical copy and having it proudly sit alongside your library of rulebooks and sourcebooks. The mag is a passion project from Kylie at Cantrips, and she has spent hours working hard to produce as good an initial impression as possible. With a wonderful supportive cast of writers, artists and creators, this project has likely wildly exceeded her imagination. The feel is top notch. Don't let its price point deter you - there's no cutting of corners here on quality. Its visually stunning and can stand proudly next to all your other precious physical RPG source and rulebooks. It will be hard to top the first issue, but I know Kylie and her contributors will be working hard to ensure the next issue becomes the best yet. Definitely she has rolled well and scored a critical success here.

High Quality Magazine and Content

This first issue is a joy to hold and read. The high quality paper and print add so much to the experience of reading a magazine about my favorite hobby. There is a large variety of content to include short articles, community surveys, serialized fiction, and even an entire adventure with maps and art.

This is a beautiful product that takes me back to reading Dragon magazine under the covers with a flashlight as a kid. It is not to be missed by anyone interested in our hobby. Thank you, Cantrips!

A High Quality, content packed magazine!

This magazine feels like it's professional quality with a durable design and lovely formatting too. Each page is packed with content (some you can cut out too!) with lots of work from all of the artists involved from character designs to stories to maps to a well-sized mini campaign. Highly recommend!!

Worth it

Got my copy in the mail and was blown away by the quality of not only the content but the print quality. It's definitely worth the physical copy. I suggest everyone get a copy, sit back and read it. Spend some time away from your screen for awhile.
